Child Protection
The Anglican Independent Communion Worldwide establishes this Code of Practice to protect children and vulnerable adults interacting with clergy and church workers.
Individuals seeking Holy Orders or licensing as a Lay Minister must provide a current Blue Card for child-related employment.
Anyone listed on the Sex Offenders Register is barred from ministry positions or roles involving children or young people.
Practising homosexuals are not eligible for ministry or leadership roles with children or young people. The Communion welcomes all to worship but upholds its stance on leadership examples.
Ministers must not provide religious instruction or minister to a child unless accompanied by a second responsible adult (not necessarily a parent or carer).
Youth activities must have a second responsible adult present, with mixed-gender groups requiring at least one adult of each sex. A Register of Attendance must be signed by all participants.
Ministers must avoid situations prone to false allegations, such as driving children alone to worship or events.
Ministers must adhere to child protection policies of other organisations where they serve.
The Child Protection Officer, appointed by the Metropolitan Archbishop, reports directly to the Archbishop on child protection matters.
