Financial Matters

  1. The Archbishop shall appoint a qualified Treasurer responsible for maintaining the central administration’s accounts. The Treasurer is not responsible for individual clergy or parish accounts but may provide advice if needed.

  2. Clergy may be in full-time ministry or have secular employment. Stipendiary and non-stipendiary clergy are treated equally.

  3. Offerings designated for a specific purpose must be used accordingly. If this is impossible or unlawful, the offering shall be handled per civil law or at the priest’s discretion. Disputes may be referred to a bishop or, if needed, the Chancellor.

  4. Unspecified offerings may be used for any good purpose as decided by the recipient. Typically, the parish priest determines distribution. Disputes may be referred to a bishop and, if necessary, the Chancellor.

  5. Clergy must manage finances diligently, lawfully, and with integrity.

  6. Clergy should keep publicly accessible records of all offerings received and their allocation.

  7. Clergy may request financial contributions for services but should not withhold services based on payment. Parishes may provide stipends or other financial support at their discretion.
