Ceremonial/Clergy Courses

Each year before ordination, current and prospective leaders attend ceremonial training to learn how to conduct services, sacraments, and other ceremonies. These courses help leaders understand the proper procedures. Free theological training up to Diploma level (equivalent to Deacon/Deaconess) is available for approved leaders and clergy.

The Anglican Independent Communion Worldwide offers theological studies from Certificate to Diploma level, which can be done by correspondence or in-person. Degree-level study can be done through AICW or another recognised institution. These studies benefit both congregation members and leaders.

  • Deacons and Deaconess’ are expected to either have or be studying for a theological diploma (as a minimum requirement)
  • Priests are expected to either have or be studying for a theological degree (as a minimum requirement),
  • Bishops are expected to either have or be studying for a second tertiary qualification so that they have both a theological degree and a managerial/ business tertiary qualification to oversee clergy appropriately and professionally (as a minimum requirement).
